Harco
This Crosley original, based on the word hark meaning to listen, was
manufactured in 1921 and was the driving factor of his early success as
a mass producer of radio sets. In fact, shortly after its introduction,
Crosley was dubbed “The Henry Ford of Radio." Back then the Harko
was the first truly low priced radio selling for just $20! This classic
cathedral style radio transcends time making it a handsome addition in
any setting. It incorporates an AM/FM radio in a lightweight, portable
Gothic shape cabinet finished in handcrafted solid woods and veneers
and features an electronically assisted dial scale and woven grill cloth.

The Companion
"Happy Days are Here Again" went the most popular tune of 1930, but for most
Depression-era Americans, the sentiment amounted to wishful thinking. In 1932,
Herbert Hoover was defeated by Franklin Delano Roosevelt by a landslide. It
quickly became apparent after this runaway victory that FDR embodied and
indomitable optimism and a speaking voice which seemed tailor-made for the
medium of radio. He began delivering regular radio addresses to the nation
known as "fireside chats." And FDR wasn't the only thing Americans were
listening to. Now with unemployment at an all-time high, more Americans than
ever were relying upon radio for their evening entertainment. Hard to believe
maybe, but radio performances truly struck a deep chord with the American
public. And all such tunes and talk were most magnificently enjoyed on radio
sets just like Crosley's Companion. Careful attention to detail makes this mini,
yet magnificent, Cathedral-style radio as authentic as the 1930's original.
